2024 Chevrolet Traverse Update: Improved Power, Technology, and Comfort

The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse has undergone a comprehensive redesign, featuring an extended wheelbase inspired by the Chevrolet Tahoe to enhance passenger space and ride quality in this versatile three-row SUV. Significant upgrades include increased towing capacity, better fuel economy, and higher horsepower, achieved through enhancements to the 3.6-liter V6 engine coupled with a nine-speed automatic transmission. While not primarily designed for towing, these improvements elevate overall driving performance. The Traverse offers modern features such as Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless device charging, multiple USB ports, and roomy seating for added convenience and comfort.

Chevrolet has introduced a new terrain management system, allowing drivers to customize driving settings based on road conditions for enhanced off-road capabilities.

Powertrain: The 3.6-liter V6 engine now delivers approximately 310 horsepower—an increase of 10%. An optional 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 259-272 horsepower is also available.

Technology: Unlike traditional all-wheel-drive systems that are constantly active, the 2024 Traverse's AWD system automatically disengages on smooth roads to improve fuel efficiency.

This setup also minimizes front tire wear and allows selection of terrain modes such as snow, off-road, or towing via the Traction Mode Select system. In standard driving conditions, the vehicle functions as a front-wheel drive.

Fuel Efficiency: The redesign targets an estimated 25 mpg highway and 18 mpg city, representing a 3 mpg improvement over the 2023 model.
